LED Channel Letter Lighting

Channel letters have become an essential element of commercial signage, drawing in clients while drawing attention to your services and products and helping to establish brand recognition.

Your logo comes in many styles – from colorful, eye-catching halo illuminations, logo formats and standard fonts, all the way through to standard fonts that best represent your business. Finding one that suits is crucial.

Brightness

Signs that look dull are unlikely to draw passersby’s attention, so LED first-surface lighting provides the bright illumination necessary to stand out and draw passersby in.

LED lights use solid-state chips that are both more reliable and energy-efficient than their fluorescent or incandescent counterparts, producing much brighter illumination while using less power overall. Furthermore, their twinkling feature adds visual interest for passersby.

GE Lumination’s Tetra miniMAX and MAX LED systems deliver the brightness businesses require for channel letter signage. Both models are over three times brighter and illuminate larger surfaces than previous generation Tetra products.

LED strip channels are constructed from aluminum, which helps dissipate heat. They come in various lengths and colors, designed to provide the necessary amount of illumination for signs. Furthermore, their pre-marked soldering points allow for maximum flexibility when cutting.

Durability

LEDs may be known for their energy savings and long lifespan, but that doesn’t make them invincible to damage. Regular maintenance will keep your signs looking great for years. This should include washing away grime from signs and making sure none have been compromised by pests, rain or wind; and checking that all wires remain free from debris without having been pulled away from their letter faces.

Front-lit channel letters are a popular choice for retail signage and offer an eye-catching radiance that draws the audience’s eye. Made of sheet metal cut into letters’ shapes, these stunning displays can be personalized by font, color and lighting settings to stand out against competitors’.

Styles

LED illuminated channel letters come in many styles and sizes, some face-lit while others halo illuminated; this makes them the ideal way for businesses looking to project their brand with bright front lighting.

Front lit channel letters utilize translucent acrylic faces to project light. They’re typically held in place with trim caps matched to their color or logo design; some manufacturers even offer trimless edges for an even cleaner appearance.

Back-lit halo channel letters offer businesses that desire a distinguished and elegant image a classy way to promote themselves. Their eye-catching illuminated letters create a striking halo effect which attracts customers while offering reduced lighting levels in spaces which require it. Furthermore, back-lit channel letters make an excellent addition for locations requiring lower brightness levels.

Installation

Channel letter lighting is one of the most versatile signage options available to businesses, employing powerful LEDs to draw passersby in and point them towards your establishment. Proper installation makes this method cost-effective as well as highly visible.

GE’s LED strip channels are specifically designed to deliver consistent and bright illumination across a wide variety of channel letters ranging from shallow can depths up to deep can depths. Available with various LED modules – including their proprietary lens technology that maximizes LED performance – our strip channels come in sizes suitable for each application and come equipped with the OptiLens lens technology that optimizes LED performance.

At the core of each channel letter lies cutting a flat sheet of metal, typically aluminum, to the shape of its sign using a computer-controlled router. After cutting, returns are bent and shaped by computer-driven bending machines until they match up perfectly with its backside using translucent plastic faces made from 3/16in (5 mm) sheet acrylic fiber or polycarbonate and fastened securely by trim cap borders on its edges – creating both an aesthetic appearance as well as fastening surfaces for secure fastenings.
