What Is Led Channel Lettering?

Led channel lettering is a type of business sign illuminated with LED lights. It has become one of the most sought-after and versatile signage options available today for businesses to promote themselves effectively.

These displays are typically constructed out of aluminum and can be back lit (to produce a halo effect) or front lit, depending on your lighting choice. Their three main parts include the face, returns and trim.

Back of the Letter

Channel letters can help your business stand out and create brand recognition. Durable enough to withstand weather elements while providing high visibility of its brand, channel letters also require less maintenance – saving both time and money over time.

Channel letters are created using aluminum sheeting that has been custom painted in standard colors or your chosen shade, while its sides, known as returns, are bent into shape using computer-driven bending and shaping equipment. Finally, translucent plastic such as polycarbonate or acrylic faces attached via trim cap form its face.

LED lighting can be found inside letter cans and can be either halo or face lit for optimal efficiency, saving on electricity bills by up to 80% compared to neon tubes.

Face of the Letter

Channel letter signs use illuminated signs with faces that light up to catch passersby’s attention and set your business apart from its competition. They can be front-lit, reverse-lit or LED halo backlit depending on your business branding needs; created from acrylic or aluminum for maximum flexibility and impact.

Formed channel letters feature a plastic base attached to translucent light-diffusing colored plastic covers that snap securely together, creating a flexible sign with different kinds of translucent face surfaces like flat, spherical or prismatic (faceted) faces to emit light from both front and side sides of the sign. They may also be decorated using cut vinyl to produce different colored light effects or create a halo effect.

LED is quickly becoming the go-to solution, using significantly less power than neon tubes while remaining illuminated for extended periods. This results in significant energy savings that you’ll recognize on your next electric bill.

Light Diffuser

Light diffusers create more even lighting distribution, softening shadows and producing softer lighting effects. Unlike simple reflectors, these diffusers contain material which scatters or refracted light; some inexpensive diffusers include bedsheets, white trash bags and parchment paper.

PC Lite LED Diffuser Sheets come in sheets, coils or spools shapes with frosted surfaces designed to mask LED hot spots and boost usable light levels for backlit applications in commercial, retail and residential spaces. Ideal for residential backlighting projects.

Luminit’s proprietary technology utilizes holographic patterns embedded into polycarbonate film or rigid sheets to shape and uniformize an incoming light wave without decreasing transmission or impacting UGR ratings. This method is commonly employed in LED lighting for applications like avionics displays, traffic signs/displays and LCD backlights as well as modeling software to find optimal beam angles and patterns.

End Caps

End caps can be an ideal way to highlight products relating to your theme. For example, a grocery store could use themed end caps to showcase springtime outdoor gear like soft drinks, chips, baked beans and charcoal – everything needed for a backyard barbecue! Themes create an appealing display while simultaneously leading shoppers into other product categories.

Keep merchandise small – products that appear too overwhelming can put off customers from exploring your end cap, which could potentially result in them never coming back! Consumers prefer single products over numerous ones – this is particularly relevant to perfume, salsa and specialty food brands. Be sure to include seasonal merchandise too – anything out-of-season may confuse shoppers or discourage them from purchasing your product!

Mounting Brackets

Mounting brackets are the last piece that make up a channel letter sign, connecting its back, returns and face together. Aluminum makes an excellent material choice due to its light weight and strength properties.

Front lit channel letters are the most frequently seen type. They consist of an aluminum back, aluminum sides known as returns, and an acrylic face. The aluminum back can be cut using a router to form letters or numbers; returns can then be bent using computerized bending machines into “cans” that hold LED lighting.

Lighted letters are highly visible both day and night, drawing the attention of passing motorists and providing an economical means of advertising your business name or logo.
