Hundreds of people gathered along the beach, cheering as surfers rode some of the biggest waves of the summer at Newport Beach’s famed surf spot – The Wedge.
The National Weather Service issued a High Surf Advisory for all south-facing beaches along the Southern California Coast on Tuesday. That warning drew surfers to the edge of the Penninsula to ride 8 to 12-foot waves pounding the beach.
