Softball playoffs: Pacifica, Los Alamitos and Mission Viejo reach quarterfinals

Pacifica’s softball team posted another walk-off victory in the playoffs Tuesday.

Sophomore Delaina Ma’ae singled in sophomore Kaniya Bragg in the seventh inning to the Mariners’ past visiting South Torrance 2-1 in the second round of the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs.

Last week, Pacifica posted a 1-0 win against visiting Great Oak in 11 innings in the first round of the playoffs.

The walk-off single by Ma’ae sent Brynne Nally to the victory in the circle. The sophomore tossed a four-hitter with six strikeouts.

Pacifica plays at Roosevelt in the quarterfinals Thursday. Last season, Roosevelt beat Pacifica 5-2 in the quarterfinals en route to a runner-up finish in Division 1.

In another Division 1 game:

Los Alamitos 1, Beaumont 0: Sophomore second baseman Bella Rodriguez drove in a run with an infield single with two outs in the second inning to lift the host Griffins. Los Alamitos plays Thursday at Camarillo, which edged Esperanza 3-2.

In Division 2:

Mission Viejo 3, Sonora 0: Sofia Elliott tossed a three-hitter with 13 strikeouts and hit a home run to lead the visiting Diablos. Shayna Glass added two hits and stolen base for No. 2 seeded Mission Viejo, which plays at Don Lugo in the  quarterfinals on Thursday.

In Division 3:

Sunny Hills 1, Capistrano Valley 0: The Lancers scored in the fourth inning and limited the visiting Cougars to one run to reach Thursday’s quarterfinals at top-seeded Bonita.

Tesoro 5, Agoura 2: Kennedy Hobson pitched four shutout innings and hit a solo home run to lead the visiting Titans, who play at San Juan Hills on Thursday.

In Division 4:

Yorba Linda 12, Palm Desert 0: Sophomore Madalyn Martin tossed five shutout innings and went 3 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs at the plate to lead the visiting Mustangs, who play host to Burroughs on Thursday.
