After skipping the Ravens’ organized team activities, quarterback Lamar Jackson was back at the team’s mandatory minicamp. Defensive tackle Michael Pierce, however, was not.
Pierce missed the team’s first minicamp session with a personal matter, coach John Harbaugh said after practice Tuesday. Pierce also was not present for the three voluntary practices open to reporters in Owings Mills.
“We understand the situation,” Harbaugh said. “It’s something that is kind of, ‘It is what it is,’ and that’s where it stands.”
Pierce signed a three-year, $16.5 million contract with the Ravens in March. Under the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement, the Ravens could penalize him up to $15,980 for his first missed day of minicamp, $31,961 for his second and $47,936 for his third. Should he miss all of this week’s minicamp, Pierce could be fined up to $95,877.
Also absent Tuesday were running backs J.K. Dobbins (knee) and Gus Edwards (knee); left tackle Ronnie Stanley (ankle); defensive lineman Derek Wolfe (hip), whom the team released Tuesday as part of an injury settlement; outside linebackers Tyus Bowser (Achilles tendon) and David Ojabo (Achilles tendon); cornerback Marcus Peters (knee); and safety Ar’Darius Washington (foot). None participated in the team’s practices over the past three weeks.
Jackson, who’s entering the final year of his rookie contract, reported Monday and is expected to participate in all three practices this week. Harbaugh said last week that he expected Jackson to return for minicamp after working out in South Florida during the team’s voluntary practices.

- Cornerback Iman Marshall, who missed the 2020 and 2021 seasons with torn ACLs, returned to the field Tuesday. New cornerback Kyle Fuller (Mount Saint Joseph) also made his Ravens debut.
- The Ravens had several players trying out, most notably outside linebacker Steven Means, who appeared in one game for the Ravens in 2014. Means, 31, spent the past three seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, starting 14 games in 2021 and finishing with 43 tackles (two for a loss), two quarterback hits and no sacks. Also trying out were offensive tackle David Steinmetz, undrafted rookie offensive tackle T.J. Storment, wide receiver Mustaqeem Williams and undrafted rookie long snapper Alex Matheson.
- Safety Marcus Williams, the Ravens’ top free-agent signing, didn’t participate in team drills. “He’s working through some physical things,” Harbaugh said. “There are certain guys that have issues that they’re dealing with that they’re going at the pace they can. It’s nothing major.” Williams played in at least 14 games in all five of his seasons with the New Orleans Saints.
