Ramen Shack in San Juan Capistrano has closed and will be replaced by breakfast spot Breezy

Breezy, a Filipino/Island-breakfast restaurant, will open in mid-August in the former Ramen Shack space in San Juan Capistrano. The restaurant is a sister concept to Shootz at Rodeo 39 in Stanton, Ontario and Long Beach. Breezy’s menu will include breakfast dishes such as ube and toasted coconut French toast and eggs Benedict with calamansi-infused Hollandaise sauce, and breakfast platters with longanisa, Filipino sweet sausage.

The announcement was made soon after Keizo Shimamoto closed the Ramen Shack in San Juan Capistrano on July 31. Shimamoto did not want a crowd lining up during his last days at the shop, so he told very few people beforehand that he was closing the Ramen Shack.

“I had some health issues starting in February,” Shimamoto said. He is currently waiting for a diagnosis. Shimamoto admits rising food costs and staff shortages quickened the restaurant’s closure. Shimamoto is focusing on his health and spending more time with his family in Irvine. He will soon begin hosting the Way of the Ramen podcast and YouTube show, which has more than 330,000 subscribers.

He says fortunately his business partners will keep the space in San Juan Capistrano and open Breezy in less than a month.
