OC Supervisor Andrew Do blew $160,000 to bomb horribly in the primary

Orange County Supervisor Andrew Do’s failed run for state treasurer was great for political grifters consultants, but not much else.

According to campaign spending data from Cal-Access, Do’s campaign raised $212,401 in the period up until May 21 this year and spent $160,772.18.

Most of that was blown on mailers, with two payments each of $32,000 going toward mailers from Landslide Communications. He also wasted money on mailers through Continuing the Republican Revolution and United Taxpayers of Orange County.

What did all of this get him?

Just 17% of the vote statewide and just 26.58% of the vote in his own Orange County. Everyone who contributed to Do’s campaign basically just set their money on fire and enriched some consultants.

Jack Guerrero, who will be facing off against Fiona Ma in November, reported $980 in contributions in the same period Do reported over $212,000 in contributions. Guerrero not only beat Do but nearly got more votes than Do in Orange County, with 25.83% of the vote.

Californians should be suspicious of any future runs for office by Andrew Do, who as supervisor has demonstrated a knack for generating bad headlines due to a noted resistance to transparency. At the very least, don’t waste your money.
