University’s undefeated boys tennis team on Monday received the top seed, and a familiar, first-round opponent, for the CIF-SS Open Division playoffs.

The Trojans (23-0), champion of the Pacific Coast League, the recent Ojai tournament and All-American tournament, will play host to Harvard-Westlake (15-3) in the first round Friday.

University and Harvard-Westlake faced off in the past two Open Division finals. Harvard-Westlake won 9-9 on games last spring while University beat the Wolverines 10-8 for inaugural Open title in 2019.

The playoffs were canceled in 2020 because of the pandemic.

The eight-team Open Division also features No. 2 seed Corona del Mar (19-2), No. 3 Calabasas (18-0) and No. 4 Woodbridge (15-4), the runner-up in the Pacific Coast League.

Portola (15-7), the third-place team in the Pacific Coast League, earned the No. 3 seed in Division 1 behind San Marcos (16-3) and Mira Costa (12-12). The trio feature top singles players in AJ Moore of Portola, Kelly Giese of Mira Costa and reigning CIF individual champion Masato Perera of San Marcos.

Portola makes the jump to Division 1 after capturing Division 2 last season.

Division 1 also features Servite, which won Division 3 last season. The Friars play host to Yorba Linda in the first round at Fullerton Tennis Center on Wednesday.

In Division 2, Beckman (13-10-1) and Los Alamitos (11-4-1) earned the No. 1 and No. 3 seeds, respectively.

Orange County also has two top contenders in Division 3. Capistrano Valley (13-5-1) and St. Margaret’s (8-4) are seeded third and fourth behind Warren (11-6) and Flintridge Prep (17-4).

The playoffs begin Tuesday and conclude with the final May 13 at The Claremont Club.
