Kids envision their perfect playground for Anaheim’s new Center Greens park

Anaheim is planning a new park near City Hall and the Downtown Community Center, and recently it got some key input on the design of its playground.

About 50 kids put crayon to paper to sketch out the amenities that would make the perfect playground for the 3.5-acre Center Greens, set to be completed next year. The playground will be a project of KABOOM!, a nonprofit that harnesses local community and corporate support to build places for children to play. Getting ideas from children is always a key component.

Helping the kids think big during Friday’s design session were members of the Anaheim Ducks organization, including several prospect players, Coach Dallas Eakin and Wild Wing, the team’s mascot. They also played street hockey with the kids and signed autographs.

The playground is expected to be built in September and the park will also include a basketball court, skate park, an obstacle course, a loop walking trail and more when finished.
