Mission Viejo, No. 2 in the Orange County top 25, is 2-0. No. 14 Servite is 0-2.

Mission Viejo plays at home next Friday against Long Beach Poly. Servite plays La Mirada next Friday at Excelsior Adult School.

Mission Viejo’s offensive line of left tackle Brady Norton, left guard Cody Going, right guard Ryan Karby, right tackle Mark Schroller and center Reef Lancaster had an outstanding night. End Jonathan Becerra and linebackers Jack Matranga and Tommy Reese stood out on defense for the Diablos.

Holman got behind the secondary and pulled in a well-placed long pass from Semonza for a 50-yard touchdown 94 seconds into the game.

Servite’s Ethan Scaffidi took a long lateral, overhand toss from quarterback Julian Puche and ran down the right sideline for a 65-yard touchdown. Scaffidi, Servite’s best player Friday on offense and defense as a defensive back, finished with four catches for 62 yards.

Mission Viejo extended the lead to 14-6 when Semonza zipped the ball to his left to Matthews, who made the catch and shed a tackler simultaneously, turned and bolted the final 30 yards to the end zone.

Diablos nose guard Joseph Mendez scored the third Mission Viejo touchdown. Mendez, 5-foot-8 and 225 pounds, lined up in the backfield, took the handoff and blasted his way into the end zone to make it 21-6 early in the second quarter.

Servite’s Adrian Cabrera kicked a 33-yard field goal to change the scoreboard to 21-9.

Holman made a fine running, over-the-shoulder catch in the left side of the end zone on another accurate Semonza pass for a 27-yard scoring play for a 28-9 advantage.

An interception by Mission Viejo’s Travis Anderson set up Semonza’s rushing touchdown, a 10-yard run in the third quarter for a 35-9 lead. Hines Ward scored on a 1-yard run to make it 42-9.

Servite scored twice in the fourth quarter, on a 21-yard run by Quaid Carr and a 1-yard run by quarterback Julian Puche.
