PORTLAND, MAINE —“The ElleVet Project” – the national nonprofit of the science-focused pet CBD+CBDA company ElleVet Sciences – is proud to announce the return of its veterinary relief tour providing much-needed FREE veterinary
The ElleVet Project brought its veterinary relief tour back to Southern California on Thursday, offering veterinary care and supplies to the pets of the homeless and street pets. The nonprofit effort aims to reach thousands of animals this year.
Founded during the pandemic, the project hosts a rotating team of veterinarians to provide treatment for animals and partners with community-focused sponsors that donate medical and other supplies.
The team spent the day offering care at Los Angeles’ Union Rescue Mission on Thursday, its third year at the center.
“By expanding this year’s relief efforts to new cities, including Seattle, Portland, Boston, and New York City, we will be able to reach more people and their much-loved pets,” said co-founder and COO Amanda Howland. “Our efforts these past few years have taught us first-hand how helping a pet can change their owner’s life for the better both emotionally and physically.”
The team sees more dogs than any other animal, Howland said Thursday — but they’ve treated many varieties if pets. “We have seen rats, donkeys, chickens, reptiles — we’ve seen some bearded dragons,” she said. “We never say no, we see any species, any pet.”

- July 11-12, 14-15, Pasadena – Pasadena Humane Society (361 S. Raymond Ave.), 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
- July 18, San Diego – San Diego Day Center (299 17th St.), 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
- July 19, Placentia – Placentia Navigation Center (731 S. Melrose St.), 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
- July 20, Santa Ana – Yale Navigation Center (2229 S Yale St.), 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
- July 21-22, Venice Beach – Venice Beach (Sunset & Hampton Drive near Gold’s Gym), 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
“With the increase of people experiencing homelessness, we’ve also seen an increase in their pets in the Skid Row area,” said Union Rescue Mission Program Director Lisa Cox. “There’s definitely an increased need as the numbers rise.”
The project was established in April 2021 as the 501(c)(3) charitable arm of ElleVet Sciences, which bills itselt as the “only pet CBD+CBDA in the marketplace proven to work in clinical studies.”
