A passerby found a man’s body in Ponderosa Park in Anaheim near a fence for the playground of Ponderosa Elementary School on Tuesday morning, July 5, and police investigators say they suspect the death was the result of a homicide.
A passerby reported finding the man, who was north of Wilken Way, between South Haster Street and Mountain View Avenue, at about 7 a.m., Anaheim Sgt. Shane Carringer said.
Coroner’s officials determined there were “signs of trauma indicative of a homicide,” Carringer said.
Police declined to go into detail about how the man died.
He was in his 40s and homeless and lived in Anaheim, Carringer said. His identity was withheld pending the notification of relatives.
Investigators asked anyone with information about the man’s death to call them at 714-765-1900. Anonymous tips can be left with Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS.
