The Time’s Morris Day lists Coto de Caza mansion for $3.1 million

A Coto de Caza mansion owned by Morris Day, frontman of the funk-rock group The Time, has come on the market for $3.1 million.

The contemporary Tudor-inspired home has 6,000 square feet of living space. There are six bedrooms and bathrooms, a traditional floor plan with a formal living room and dining room, and a gourmet kitchen.

Top-of-the-line appliances, a center island with seating, granite counters, a breakfast nook, built-ins, and a coffered ceiling are among the kitchen’s features.

The master suite contains a walk-in closet with an island of drawers and a spa-like bathroom with a step-up tub and a double shower with a rain head.

Completed in 1990, the house sits at the end of a long circular driveway on nearly two acres alongside a five-car garage and a separate guesthouse. The fenced-in grounds boasts a barbecue bar, covered outdoor living room with TV, and a swimming pool and spa.

Realtor.com first reported the listing, held by Nora Gallogly of Keller Williams Realty.

Property records show Day and his wife, Lorena, bought the house in 2019 for $2.5 million.

Day, 63, is a musician, composer and actor best known as The Time’s frontman. The funk-rock band was formed in 1981 by Prince, Day’s longtime friend with whom he appeared in the 1984 musical drama “Purple Rain” as a rival musician. Among the band’s biggest hits are “Jungle Love,” “The Bird” and “Jerk Out.” Day is also co-author of the memoir “On Time: A Princely Life in Funk.”
