Anaheim police have arrested a 39-year-old man on suspicion of fatally shooting another man earlier this week.

On Sunday, April 25, at about 7 p.m., police were called to a shooting in the 200 block of East Clifton Avenue, where they found Francisco Villagomez with at least one gunshot wound, said Anaheim police Sgt. Shane Carringer.

Villagomez, 34, of Anaheim was pronounced dead at the scene. Shortly after, police released Garcia’s name and photograph as the suspect in the shooting, hoping it would lead to finding him.

Police found Garcia, also of Anaheim, in a car in San Bernardino on Monday night near the 215 Freeway and Baseline Street, Carringer said.

He was being held in lieu of $1 million bail. Police have not recovered the weapon used in the shooting and are not releasing details about what motivated the killing.

Homicide detectives ask anyone with information to call them at 714-321-3669. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS.
