Six Flags Magic Mountain teams with West Coast Customs for world’s first drive-thru auto show

Six Flags Magic Mountain will roll out another once-in-a-lifetime event during the coronavirus pandemic with the world’s first drive-thru auto show featuring 100 muscle cars, hot rods and lowriders from West Coast Customs.

The Cruis’n the Park Car Show will run on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Feb. 26 through March 14 at the Valencia amusement park.

Large California amusement parks such as Six Flags Magic Mountain remain closed and are unlikely to return to full operation until spring or summer under COVID-19 health and safety reopening guidelines issued by the state.

Cruis’n the Park offers car enthusiasts and theme park fans a chance to drive through Magic Mountain to see custom cars, trucks, motorcycles and watercraft from the comfort and safety of their own car.

The 30-minute Cruis’n the Park Car Show will be narrated by West Coast Customs CEO Ryan Friedlinghaus (available via a free mobile app download) with additional themed music and entertainment.

The limited-time drive-thru event is the perfect cure for #StayAtHome Southern California motorists missing their daily commutes, but the timely remedy lacks the one thing ride enthusiasts are longing for the most: Roller coasters. Magic Mountain rides will remain closed during the event.

Cruis’n the Park will take visitors on a route through the 125-acre park and past dozens of vehicles from West Coast Customs, a Burbank auto customizing shop featured in the reality television show “Pimp My Ride.” Magic Mountain teamed up with the auto customizer on the West Coast Racers roller coaster that debuted in late 2019.

Cruis’n the Park is Magic Mountain’s second drive-thru event — a theme park concept that would have been unthinkable before the pandemic. The Holiday in the Park Drive-Thru Experience was so popular that the first-of-its-kind event was extended through the end of January — well past the traditional holiday season.

Advance reservations are required for Cruis’n the Park through the Magic Mountain website and capacity will be limited. Admission prices have yet to be announced, but discounts will be available for active members and season passholders.

In the interest of COVID-19 health and safety, passengers will not be permitted to exit their vehicles and masks will be required if they roll down their windows.

Cars, SUVs, vans and pickup trucks are permitted. No convertibles, buses, RVs, commercial vehicles, 6-wheel pickups, trailers or motorcycles are allowed. A 3 mph speed limit will be enforced. Portable toilets will be available at the entrance and exit.
