Sierra Canyon 5-star guard Amari Bailey commits to UCLA

Sierra Canyon junior guard Amari Bailey announced his commitment to UCLA via Instagram Wednesday evening.

Bailey is the No. 1-rated combo guard in the country and the No. 3-ranked overall high school prospect for the 2022 class, regardless of position, according to 247Sports.com.

The 6-foot-4 guard played in 33 of Sierra Canyon’s 34 games last season and averaged 10.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game en route the team’s third straight CIF State Open Division SoCal Regional title.

Bailey is known for his competitive spirit on defense, usually marking the opposition’s best perimeter player. That will bode well with UCLA coach Mick Cronin’s defensive philosophy and intensity.

His commitment follows a very strong 2021 class that Cronin recruited. That class includes two guards, No. 10-ranked Peyton Watson and No. 45-ranked Will McClendon, and already-on-campus big man Mac Etienne.
