The first home to go up in Laguna Beach’s blufftop Rockledge enclave is on the market for $6.75 million.
Originally built in 1923, this Craftsman shingle-style dubbed “The Cliffhanger” has four bedrooms, three bathrooms and 1,749 square feet of living space.
The house sits perched on nearly a quarter-acre lot overlooking the Pacific Ocean and surrounded by gardens and patios.
“Opportunities abound: refresh, remodel, rebuild or pursue property tax savings through the Mills Act,” reads the listing but adds the house is not included on the city’s historic inventory.
An ocean-facing window seat, stacked boulder fireplace and large fixed sash windows that extend around most of the first and second stories are features of the vintage interior, with its all-white board and batten walls and vaulted beam ceilings.
There’s a deck off the living room.
Evan Corkett and Steve High of Villa Real Estate hold the listing.
The Hall family, who first owned the land that is Rockledge, built the residence. In the late 1930s, they sold it to the Rosses, according to a city document on the historic neighborhood.
