A procession through Norco on Saturday, April 17, will honor city resident Jeffrey Ryan McKee, a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy who died in an off-duty traffic collision on March 28.
The procession will start at about 9 a.m., the city announced. It will travel west on Sixth Street from California Avenue and then onto Norco Drive/Corydon Avenue and into Eastvale for a private memorial service at a church.
The procession, which can be viewed by the public, will consist of Sheriff’s Department and private vehicles. Family members requested that the public not join the procession, according to the city’s Facebook post.
McKee, 35, was killed on the 5 Freeway in East Los Angeles when a tire crashed into his windshield.
McKee was born in Chino and raised his family in Norco. He is survived by his wife Randi, 8-year-old son Hunter and 5-year old daughter Remilynn Nicole.
“The 15-year veteran of the department, who cherished the Horsetown USA lifestyle, was very proud of his chickens, goats and donkey,” the city’s post added. “Deputy McKee committed his professional life to protecting his fellow citizens, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time”
