Potatoes return to the menu at Taco Bell while Miguel’s Jr. introduces potato taquitos

Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes are officially back on the menu at Taco Bell, beginning March 11.

The dish, seasoned potatoes topped with nacho cheese sauce and sour cream, will be $1.49 at participating locations, according to a news release.

Also joining the value menu will be a Spicy Potato Soft Taco for $1.

The Irvine-based fast food giant pulled its potato dishes in August in order to simplify its menu. But it brought back its ultra-popular Nacho Fries in December.

Introduced in January 2018, Nacho Fries have always been a limited-time offer, added to the menu for about two months at a time and then disappearing again. It seems likely this visit won’t last much longer.

Taco Bell is also bringing back the Quesalupa on Thursday. It was on the menu in 2016. It has an outer shell for melted melted pepper jack and mozzarella cheese and a second shell to hold seasoned beef, shredded cheese, lettuce, tomato, and sour cream. It will cost $2.99 by itself or $6.99 in a combo with two crunchy tacos and a fountain drink.

Members of Taco Bell’s Rewards Beta program can get it Wednesday, March 10.

Taco Bell is winding down a test of a couple of cheese curds item called Crispy Cheese Dippers and Crispy Cheese Nacho Fries at one Southern California location, 131 E. Orangethorpe Ave. in Fullerton. The company expected the test to run through Wednesday, March 10, or as long as supplies last.

Meanwhile, Corona-based Miguel’s Jr. also has a new potato item. Potato Taquitos are made crispy potatoes wrapped in a tortilla shell and topped with salsa verde sauce and Monterey Jack cheese. They are available for a limited time. The cost is $4.29 a la carte or $7.99 in a combo with rice, beans and a fountain drink, according to the company.

Restaurants are in Riverside, Orange, and San Bernardino counties.
