Grammys 2021: Lil Baby’s ‘Bigger Picture’ gets standing ovation on social media

In keeping with social distancing guidelines, the 63rd Grammys Awards reconfigured their performance spaces with most acts working in one on-site space with distanced areas.

But Lil Baby took his performance outside the venue and in the streets of Downtown Los Angeles. His performance of “The Bigger Picture” was filled with images and messages about racial injustice and the “Black Lives Matter” protests last summer.

The performance featured actor and activist Kendrick Sampson inside a police car and included messages from rapper Killer Mike and from activist Tamika D. Mallory calling for “justice, equity, policy and everything else that freedom encompasses.”

Social media users took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

Lil Baby’s performance was moving and emotional. Best performance of the whole show. It was a message that needed to happen on THIS award shows. Grammy’s were never know for being inclusive so I’m happy it happened.
