Bolsa Grande, Northwood and University have all canceled the final two football games of their seasons because injuries have depleted the teams’ rosters.

Northwood (1-2) was scheduled to play Laguna Hills on Friday, April 9 and Dana Hills on April 16. Northwood also canceled its game against Portola last week.

University (0-2) canceled its final two games: against Woodbridge on Friday and against Irvine on April 16. Dana Hills and Irvine have arranged to play each other on April 16 at Irvine High.

Bolsa Grande (1-2) has canceled its final two games: vs. Santiago on Thursday, and vs. Rancho Alamitos on April 16 — because its roster is low on healthy players.

Rancho Alamitos coach Mike Enright was confident Monday the Vaqueros would be able to schedule a replacement opponent.

Northwood athletic director Brandon Emery sent a letter addressed to the “Northwood Football Community” that read in part: “As disappointing as this news may be, please know that this decision was not made lightly. As stewards of this program and most importantly, of your children, our absolute priority is to do all we can to ensure the safety and well-being of our student athletes. And in consideration of the current physical health of the program as it relates to injuries that create a lack of depth at all positions, we cannot in good conscience place our student athletes in situations that we are not fully prepared for.”

In other updates:

• Costa Mesa, which canceled a game last week against Orange because it didn’t have enough healthy players, will play Santa Ana this week, according to Costa Mesa athletic director Sharon Uhl. The Mustangs will be home Friday against the Saints.

• As of Monday afternoon, Orange Lutheran was still scheduled to play at St. John Bosco on Friday night. Last week, the Lancers had to cancel their game against Santa Margarita because of a positive COVID-19 test in the Orange Lutheran football program.
