According to the end-of-day totals from California public health websites for Wednesday, March 24, there were 2,737 new cases of the coronavirus reported statewide, bringing the total number of cases there have been to 3,625,856.
The 14-day average of new cases daily is 2,769, a 93.5% decline from the Jan. 16 high of 42,468.
There were 258 new deaths reported Wednesday, for a total of 57,667 people in California who have died from the virus. The 14-day average of new daily deaths is 198, a 63.5% decline from the Feb. 1 high of 543
The state reported 2,826 people in hospitals with coronavirus-related infections. That’s 161 fewer patients than Tuesday and a 87.6% decline from the Jan. 5 high of 22,843.
The percentage of California’s population that has been fully vaccinated is 13.8% with 15.6 million vaccinations administered and 5.6 million people fully vaccinated as of Wednesday.
