Wind & Sea Restaurant in Dana Point Harbor celebrates 50th anniversary

Robert “Bob” Mardian opened was 25 years old and headed toward a career in law in 1972 when he instead opened a waterfront seafood restaurant on Dana Point Harbor. Wind & Sea Restaurant celebrated its 50th anniversary on Monday, Aug. 22, marking a half century of serving mai tais and Hawaiian-inspired seafood dishes.

“These 50 years have been incredible to watch the restaurant grow, build relationships in our community and serve people the best food day in and day out,” said Mardian, who still manages the restaurant’s day-to-day operations, in a statement.

Wind & Sea will continue the celebration Oct. 24-27 by offering menu items and prices from 50 years ago. Dishes including top sirloin, beef kebab, shrimp teriyaki and Hawaiian chicken will be available for under $5 for a limited time.

Wind & Sea Restaurant launched Mardian’s passion for opening restaurants. Since then, he has expanded his operations with Harpoon Henry’s in Dana Point, along with Kona Inn and Kona Canoe Club in Hawaii.
