Coronavirus: Orange County reported 4,402 new cases and 11 more deaths, July 19

The OC Health Care Agency reported 4,402 more cases of the coronavirus from Friday, July 15, to Monday, July 18, increasing the cumulative total since tracking began in the county to 625,100.

There were 18,383 new cases reported in the last two-week period as of Tuesday. The county is averaging at least 37.5 new cases a day per every 100,000 residents.

There were 298 people reported in Orange County hospitals with coronavirus on Tuesday, including 45 who required intensive care.

The county reported 11 more deaths on Tuesday, bringing the count of Orange County residents who have died from the virus to 7,181.

The data on deaths in the county is compiled from death certificates, or gathered through the course of case investigations, and can take weeks to process. The most recent death recorded was on July 10.

Of the 7,181 deaths reported from the virus, 1,364 were skilled nursing facility residents, 718 were in assisted living facilities, two were OC jail inmates, and 21 were listed as homeless.

It is estimated 589,302 people in the county have recovered from the virus. The count of people who have recovered is based on the prior 28-day cumulative case count.
