At least one police officer fired at a homicide suspect in an Anaheim apartment building Friday night, authorities said.
The suspect’s condition was not provided as of Saturday morning.
After Westminster detectives learned that Trent William Millsap was in an apartment in the 3300 block of Lincoln Avenue in Anaheim, the West County SWAT Team was sent to serve search and arrest warrants, Westminster police Cmdr. Kevin MacCormick said.
During the service of the search warrant, at least one officer fired, MacCormick said.
Westminster police did not offer any details regarding Millsap’s condition, nor did they say whether he was struck by gunfire. It wasn’t disclosed whether he was in custody, hospitalized or dead.
During the incident, a police dog was hit by a bullet, but the wound was not life-threatening, MacCormick said. No officers were injured.
Millsap, 27, was identified by Westminster police as the suspect in a fatal stabbing at a 76 gas station, 6322 Westminster Blvd., which occurred just before 6 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
The victim was a 38-year-old man who may have been homeless, Westminster police said. He was found suffering a serious stab wound to the chest and later died at a hospital.
Police believe Millsap and the victim may have been acquaintances, but further information regarding a motive was not immediately known.
How police learned Millsap was staying at the Anaheim apartment complex was not known.
