Status Update: USPS hiring mail carriers in Orange County; Aspire studios open at Triangle Square

The US Postal Service is putting out another call for mail carriers, this time hosting three local hiring fairs to help candidates begin the complex process of applying for a government job.

USPS said its personnel will be available to provide information about the positions, answer questions, and walk future employees through the application process step by step.

Starting pay is $18.92 hourly for letter carriers. Here’s a rundown of the job fairs:

July 13: 9-1 p.m., at the Brea Post Office, 700 E. Birch St.

July 20: 9-1 p.m. at the Tustin Post Office, 340 E. 1st St..

July 27: 9-1 p.m., at Huntington Beach Post Office, 6771 Warner Ave.

Applicants must be 18 years or older and must be able to pass drug screening and a criminal background check. Some positions require an exam; any position with a driving requirement will also require a valid driver’s license and clean DMV history (for at least two years).

Salon suites debut at Triangle Square in Costa Mesa

Aspire Salon Studios has opened at Triangle Square in Costa Mesa, the fifth Southern California location for the company and the first for Orange County.

Located on the upper level of the retail center and adjacent to Cafe Sevilla, the salon offers 50 studios in 11,000 square feet.

Studios are leased by individual hair stylists, nail technicians, massage therapists, facialists and estheticians providing various skin and beauty treatments such as microblading, waxing, facials and other services.

Aspire Salon Studios is owned and operated by Shaan, Pran and Neeru Mehta, who have 40 years combined in the beauty industry.

“We’re excited to open at Triangle Square and have a presence in the Newport Mesa area. We know what it takes to create the right environment for a salon, and to ensure customers always feel welcome and know they are about to be pampered and receive great care,” said Shaan Mehta.

Illumination Foundation is hosting Carnival for Kids for at-risk children and families from noon to 4 p.m. July 30 at La Palma Park in Anaheim.

The event provides children from Illumination Foundation’s programs, and local qualifying families from nearby school districts, an opportunity to enjoy a carnival experience they otherwise might not have a chance to experience.

Carnival for Kids will have carnival rides, children’s activities, games, a petting zoo, pony rides, live music, a stilt walker, folklorico dancers, food and more.

Frank Tucker is the new board president for Orange Unified Public Schools Foundation. He recently retired as the global chief people officer for Taco Bell where he was responsible for leading the human resource management, communications and public affairs team for Taco Bell worldwide. Tucker also was the chairman of the Taco Bell Foundation. He and wife Shannon own and operate Tucker Family Farms and Terrace Hill Olive Oil Co. Healthcare panel is Aug. 4 in Newport Beach

The Orange County Business Council will host a group of panelists for the 2022 Health Care Forum “Embracing Change in Health Care” at 8 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 4 in Newport Beach.

Moderated by Annette Walker, City of Hope Orange County’s president, the panelists include Barry Arbuckle president and chief executive officer of MemorialCare; Susan Huang, chief medical officer at Providence Southern California; Kathy Azeez-Narain, vice president and chief digital officer at Hoag; Todd Newton, medical director and chief of staff at Southern California Permanente Medical Group of Orange County; and Tatyana Popkova, chief strategy officer at UCI Health.
