Former Flanagan and Wisconsin cornerback Faion Hicks drafted in seventh round by Denver Broncos

Former Flanagan and Wisconsin cornerback Faion Hicks had to wait until late, but his named was eventually called at the 2022 NFL Draft.

Hicks was picked up in the seventh round in Las Vegas on Saturday, with the Denver Broncos grabbing him with the 232nd pick. He joins former St. Thomas Aquinas linebacker Nik Bonitto, the 64th selection, as South Florida prospects who were taken by the Broncos in this draft, and a couple of past Denver draftees from South Florida, cornerback Patrick Surtain II (American Heritage) and wide receiver Jerry Jeudy (Deerfield Beach).

The 5-foot-11 and 200-pound Hicks redshirted at Wisconsin in 2017 before playing four seasons there. He totaled 44 games, 108 combined tackles, one interception, and 19 passes defended during his time with the Badgers.

Hicks was previously a Flanagan player from 2013-2016, helping the Falcons win their first state championship in 2015 with a victory over Osceola.
