Coachella 2022: Festival drops free NFTs that can blossom into VIP perks

There’s no need to drop six figures to get your next NFT, because all 2022 Coachella Music and Arts Festival pass holders can get one of the internet’s latest and most expensive trends for free, and it could grow into some great deals.

Those who download the In Bloom NFT, which looks like a massive psychedelic flower seed, will see it blossom every Friday morning of the festival, which runs April 15-17 and April 22-24 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, into one of seven desert flowers.

All of the NFTs can be cashed in for festival benefits including a faster entry lane, access to limited-edition Coachella merchandise and food and drink beverage vouchers.

And because even NFTs have a VIP list, some of them will blossom into one of six rare flowers that can be redeemed for things at the festival like VIP upgrades, 2023 weekend passes, Goldenvoice concert tickets, and Ferris wheel rides — think Willy Wonka’s golden tickets.

NFT stands for a non-fungible token, a one-of-a-kind digital token that can be bought and sold online. Built on the blockchain, they have become increasingly popular from musicians to major companies to entrepreneurs buying them, with many selling in the six-figures for limited edition collections.

Coachella got on the NFT bandwagon back in February when officials announced on Twitter that three different NFT collections would be sold as part of the festival that will offer perks like VIP access to Coachella for one weekend in April every year, festival photos and posters.

The collection of the most exclusive Coachella NFTs with experiences attached each sold in the six figures.

Coachella has begun to send out boxes with the wristbands for entry. Included in the box is a packet of vegetable seeds, a nod to the NFT. Passholders can download the FTX app and connect their wristband to be able to access the NFT.
