BUENA PARK — Sunny Hills running back Vince Silva rushed for 346 yards and four touchdowns on 17 carries to lead Sunny Hills to a 31-7 victory over Fullerton in a key Freeway League game Friday at Buena Park High School.
Silva, who plays both ways, also came up with an interception.
The victory by the Lancers (5-0, 4-0) set up a showdown against La Habra (5-0, 4-0) next Friday in the final game of the season with the Freeway League championship on the line.
The Highlanders defeated Troy on Friday, 41-0.
“La Habra is the standard of the Freeway League,” Sunny Hills coach Pete Karavedas said “We wanted to be in this position but we weren’t letting ourselves think about it. This game was too important too to overlook anybody.”
Fullerton (3-2, 2-2) will likely finish in third place.

The Lancers were ahead 7-0 in the second quarter when Silva broke through the line and outran the secondary for an 89-yard touchdown.
Sunny Hills was ahead 17-7 in the third quarter when Silva ran for a 25-yard touchdown to give the Lancers a three-score cushion.
On his very next carry, Silva broke another one, this time for 80 yards to put the Lancers up 31-7.
The senior came close to scoring a fourth touchdown in the fourth quarter but had to settle for 67 yard after being tackled 12 yards from the end zone.
“He’s a senior and this is a rivalry game,” Karavedas said. “It means a lot to him and all the seniors. He absolutely played like man possessed tonight.”
The Lancers defense and special teams also did their part to keep the Indians from making a game of it.
Sunny Hills’ first score was an 8-yard touchdown run by quarterback Max Spero.
The score was set up on a 57-yard punt from Dominik Geib, which pinned the Indians back on their own 3-yard line.
Fullerton quarterback Dylan Neal was sacked twice on the ensuing drive, forcing the Indians to punt from their own 9.
Sunny Hills took possession on the Indians’ 32 and Spero scored six plays later.
In the fourth quarter, the Indians had a first-and-goal from the 7 but had to settle for a 25-yard field goal try which was no good.
The Lancers also had four sacks, including two by T.J. Vaipae.
