Villa Park football coach Dusan Ancich returns to sideline this week after personnel issue

Villa Park High football coach Dusan Ancich will return to the sideline Friday,  March 26 after a two-week absence due to an undisclosed personnel matter, school principal Ken Miller said over the weekend.

Ancich, the Spartans’ 12th-year coach and son of the late legendary coach Marijon Ancich, missed the first two games of the coronavirus-delayed season because the personnel issue but is expected to return for Friday’s nonleague game against Esperanza (0-2). The game is scheduled for Yorba Linda.

Villa Park (1-1) bounced back to defeat Brea Olinda 45-0 on Saturday, March 20, one week after season-opening 25-16 loss against Orange (2-0).

The Spartans captured nine consecutive league titles until a second-place finish to Yorba Linda last season in the Crestview. Villa Park opens the Crestview League against El Modena in Week 4.
