Disneyland has once again set a reopening date for the Disney Vacation Club villas after Gov. Gavin Newsom’s stay-at-home order forced a delay of the gradual reopening of the timeshare units in December.
The Disney Vacation Club villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will reopen on May 2, according to a letter sent to DVC members.
“Our cast members on the West Coast are excited to make their magic once again and ‘welcome home’ members,” reads the letter to DVC members.

Disneyland, Disney California Adventure and other California theme parks are unlikely to return to full operation until spring or summer under COVID-19 health and safety reopening guidelines issued by the state.
An initial Dec. 6 reopening date was put on hold by the state lockdown just days before the DVC villas were set to return late last year.

Only the DVC villas will reopen during the initial stage of the phased reopening. The rest of Disney’s Grand Californian as well as the Disneyland Hotel and the Paradise Pier Hotel will remain closed indefinitely.
Most dining, activities and services will be modified with limited capacity due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols during the initial reopening of the DVC villas.

Disneyland has been following now familiar health and safety protocols as part of the “new normal” in the COVID-19 era: Mandatory masks, social distancing, increased sanitization, contactless payments, reduced attraction capacity and employee training.
