Install Letters on Building

The skill and knowledge of sign craftsman/contractors, normally can be related to the years of diverse shop skills, and vast amount of field experience. I started out sweeping floors and helping out on installations, just watching and learning, so I have grown up in the sign industry and have over 30 years experience, and I still come across new challenges in design and fabrication. I was able to learn from experienced sign crafters who had the family business for several generations. With skills ranging from: designing, drafting, layouts, engineering of footings, construction and installation of custom signs. With no two signs alike, it can be a challenge.

A good graphic designer should become familiar with the various sign fabricator/contractors in his area. This will not only give you contacts for networking possibilities, you will be able to gain more insight into construction possibilities with different sign products, which are constantly improving with technology. This information will be especially helpful to designers interested in architecturally integrating 3d Letters into the overall scheme of the building design. They is such a variety of possible sign system materials and methods of fabrication, it may require many different fabricators, to build it. Below are sign type specialties:

TIPS Choose weather-resistant acrylic sign material and make sure it is at least 3/16" of an inch in thickness. This will avoid the warping issue associated with using 1/8" thick acrylic. The plastic letters or sign faces, can be hosed off with a mild soap if needed; Foam building letters made. can be cleaned with Glass cleaner can be used if needed.
